Biography

Traijak Poolkasikorn was born in the Nakhon Sawan Province of Central Thailand. His mother called him “Kaikwan". He had his basic education in rural Thailand and first came to Australia in 2007 and received his Australian citizenship in 2014.

Traijak always liked to draw but he has had no formal art education. He works in the mail order industry.

His early art practice in Sydney was pencil drawing in the traditional representational manner; often with Thai themes that looked back to his cultural roots. Over the last year he has ventured into using other media that gives him more freedom of expression and he especially finds abstraction a way to express how he feels about life, nature and the ever-present influence of Buddhism. The Australian bush is often depicted in his works.
